Management training on Work/Family conversations can improve well being

I was fortunate enough to meet Ellen Kosset at a Work Life Balance conference at the British Psychology Society. I say fortunate because you cannot help but feel inspired by her research and attitude to work family balance.

She presented on this research on how training managers to ask about employees life outside work, can have a positive impact on their life. Not only that but modelling healthy behaviour, like popping home to do the school run for an hour then returning to work, reduces stress for the whole team. http://hbr.org/2008/11/supervisor-work-life-training-gets-results/ar/1

She has also developed a work life balance questionairre to explore what strategy best suits you to achieve a balance; are you a separator or integrator? http://psychcentral.com/lib/2011/the-key-to-finding-a-work-life-balance/ I am looking forward to using this with clients to help manage those delicate boundaries.
